100-V Class Operational Amplifier

A high-voltage analog amplifier design with a 50 mA output-current target, unity-gain stability and separate output-enable control.

Design targets

Supply range
10–100 V total; ±5 to ±50 V with symmetric supplies
Output-current target
±50 mA class; subject to power dissipation and thermal limits
Small-signal gain-bandwidth target
2.5 MHz, based on reference typical conditions
Closed-loop operation
Unity-gain stability target
Control and monitoring
Output enable/disable with a separate common return; fault-status output
Pin compatibility
Pin-assignment compatibility objective; final package and pinout to be selected

Practical operating notes

  • Design is complete and pre-silicon. These are design targets, not measured results. The small-signal bandwidth target is based on reference typical behavior at ±50 V, a 25 °C exposed-pad temperature and a 4.8 kΩ load to mid-supply; it is not a full-swing bandwidth guarantee.
  • The 100 V figure is the total supply span, not the available output amplitude. Output swing requires voltage headroom that changes with load. The 50 mA target depends on the voltage across the output stage, cooling and the intended waveform.
  • Enable logic must be evaluated relative to its common-return pin. Status-output interfacing and fault response require circuit-level validation. Current limiting and thermal shutdown are protection objectives, not substitutes for proper cooling or external protection.
  • Package choice remains open. Pin assignments, any exposed-pad connection, mechanical fit, thermal behavior and electrical operation must be checked for the selected implementation before board-level interchangeability can be established.
  • Capacitive and inductive loads require stability, transient and energy-path review. Protection features do not establish suitability for a safety-critical system.

Possible applications

  • Test and measurement signal drive
  • Piezoelectric and transducer excitation with suitable load conditions
  • Servo control signal drive
